Premieră

Jumătate din ea se află sub puterea tastei delete. Sau backspace. Sau ce dracu' am folosit când am scris-o. Sec, fără fluturaşi gramaticali sau buburuze expresive. Simplu, fără explicaţii perfecte, fără acurateţe. Nu pot să trag de idee mai mult de atât. Pare... forţat.

1st scene: BEGIN TO WONDER

(Anya sits on a bench, reading. The Stranger approaches her.)

Stranger: Hello!
Anya: Hi!
Stranger: Uhm... are you enjoying your book?
Anya: It's not my book but yes, I find it fascinating.
Stranger (looking around): Yes, I see... (turning abruptly toward Anya) Would you like some candy?
Anya (smiling): Sure.

(After eating a purple candy, Anya proceeds her anterior action and the Stranger disappears.)

LIGHTS OUT

(The spot is on the empty bench. Anya sits near it. She swings, mumbling something. Different colored lights "dance" around her.)

Anya (looking straight forward): Would you like some candy?... Yes, candy. Do you want some candy?... Yes, candy. Do you need some candy?... No, candy.

LIGHTS OUT

(Anya finds herself between an apple tree and an abandoned railway. On the background: sound of trains.)

Anya: Very, very long railway.
Eve: Would you like an apple?
Anya: No. Candy.
Adam: Don't listen to her! She poisoned me too!
Eve: Don't be absurd. You're still alive.
Adam: How can you tell?
Train driver: Where is my train? Did you happen to see my train? I somehow lost it. But not long ago... it was here... somewhere near...
Adam: Since there is nothing I can change now, all I can do is travel. I want to see the world. The entire eternity lies before me!
Train driver: Travelling? With my train?
Eve: No. By foot.
Adam: No.
Anya: The bench!
Train driver: My train?
Adam: My heaven?
Eve: my apple?
Anya: Where's the snake?
Stranger: Would you like some candy?
Anya: sure.

LIGHTS OUT

2nd scene: MENTALLY REVOLVING

(Anya lies near a hospital bed. She swings. She is surrounded by Sid, the Doctor and the Nurse.)

Sid: Is she going to be alright?
Doctor: Of course.
Nurse: Maybe.
Anya: No.
Sid: Will she need intensive care?
Doctor: No way!
Nurse: Maybe.
Anya: Yes.
Sid: Do you think it would be a good idea if I leave her here for let's say... another two days?
Doctor: Sure!
Nurse: Maybe.
Anya: NO!

LIGHTS OUT

(Sid & Anya at the seaside, watching the sunset. On the background: sound of waves.)

Sid: Are you here?
Anya: No.
Sid: How about there?
Anya: I don't think so.
Sid: Where are you?
Anya: I don't know.
Sid: Are you lost?
Anya: Probably.
Sid: Why?
Anya: ...
Sid: How?
Anya: ...
Sid: Can you come back?
Anya: ...
Sid: What's the point of being lost if you're not able to find yourself?
Anya: ...

LIGHTS OUT

(Going back to the hospital. Sid and Anya switch roles.)

Anya: Is he ok?
Doctor: Not really.
Nurse: maybe.
Sid: Yes.
Anya: Will he stay here for long?
Doctor: Yes, he needs intensive care.
Nurse: Maybe.
Sid: No.
Anya: Do you think I should visit him more often?
Doctor: I think he needs your presence.
Nurse: Maybe.
Sid: No.
Anya: When can I visit him?
Doctor: Ask the nurse.
Nurse: Yeah, right.
Sid: NEVER!

LIGHTS OUT

(Back to the seaside.)

Anya: Are you expecting someone?
Sid: I think so.
Anya: Who?
Sid: I don't know.
Anya: How come?
Sid: ...
Anya: You're not aware of many things.
Sid: I just prefer the unpredictable.
Anya: Were you waiting for me?
Sid: I still am.
Anya: But I'm here.
Sid: No, you're not.
Stranger: Thursday.

3rd scene: ROOM FOR TRYING

(Location: cheap motel.) Da, ştiu. m-am plagiat.

Receptionist: What can I do for you?
Sid: We would like a room at the fourth floor, if there are any available.
Receptionist: But sir... there is no fourth floor.
Anya: Yes, there is. This motel has eight floors. We saw it very clearly.
Receptionist: No, it doesn't.
Anya: But we've just...

LIGHTS OUT

Receptionist: What can I do for you?
Sid: We would like a room at the fourth...

LIGHTS OUT

Receptionist: What can I do for you?
Sid: Fourth floor.

LIGHTS OUT

Receptionist: What can I do for you?
Sid: We would like a room. Doesn't matter where... we just want to sleep.
Receptionist: Let me see if I have something at the fourth floor.

LIGHTS OUT

Stranger: I would like a room too.
Receptionist: I'm sorry, there aren't any left.
Stranger: Are you sure?
Receptionist: Of course I'm sure.
Stranger: Would you like some candy?
Receptionist: Why not?

(Stranger exists stage and enters again.)

Stranger (talking slowly): Room... like... want... up... available.
Receptionist: What floor?
Stranger: Fir... fif... th... basement.

LIGHTS OUT

4th scene: REWIND

(All characters freeze on the stage in random places. In the middle, Anya, lying on the floor, smoking. She gets up, throwing her cigarette. She walks among the characters almost unconscious. Suddenly, all the characters move backwards. Background song: Clubbed To Death. )

Anya: STOP!

LIGHTS OUT

(The same bench as in the 1st scene.)

Stranger: Would you like some candy?
Anya: No, thank you.

LIGHTS OUT
